Flying up side up

Flying up side up
All wobbly like
An old biplane crashes
Like a chick takes flight
Not at all like the phoenix.

03.28.11 Genius! Thank You

Following are two poems that William (10 years old) and I wrote, passing the paper back and forth between us.  His prose are in italics.  The depth and emotive connotations of his prose are genius!  Thank you William for sharing yourself with me and thank you for not minding that I post them here.  Your voice is what I look forward to hearing more of.

Untitled
A hermit stands in the rain
Listening to sounds of nature
Ignoring the lonely pain
of missed opportunity

Rain drumming relentless,
freely repentless
like the sounds of a parade
through the forest pervade

Untitled
Trees,
Are life forms
without true gorms
except listening

Listening,
to rain repentless
to the rivers
of the forest

Rivers tumbling across
a landscape ever changing
timeless in its essence
one river from beginning to end

Snow,
like sharp cold daggers
piercing through your skin
though soft, but though hard
as the long-frozen rivers
timeless

Seasons changing
from cold to warm
tulip tongues poking through
the frost, not lingering
gives way to sunshine

The salvation of tired and cold and sore
gives their futile attempts closer to the warmth
of the fresh grass bed
o'er mighty rivers and gurgling streams

I miss you so much, William, and am looking forward to when we can go to the beach again.

Happy Monday (yeah right)

Been a pretty good weekend and today my girl has a day off.  We were going to go on our annual beach hike this past weekend but Goodman and Mosquito Creeks were impassable by mere mortals such as ourselves.  So, instead, we slept in a lot.  On Saturday I attended a wake for a high school friend and despite the reason for getting together, it was very cool seeing old friends.  To me they all looked the same for the most part!

My knitting and spinning have relapsed into non-existence lately.  I am eagerly awaiting my new niddy noddy which my friend Merritt is making me so that I can set the twist on what I have on my spindle and start again.

I want to go spend a chunk of change on new yarn too but have the opportunity to get my truck out of the garage (again dammit!).
